Hmm ... I wonder how many people at GQ read the Bible (the whole Bible) before forming the opinion that the Bible doesn't need to be read!?!
I am going to guess that - if they are like most Americans - they never actually read the Bible before forming a conclusion about the Bible. Most likely, they simply heard about parts of it over the years (the parts people have problems with or don't understand) and they based their opinion on that.
But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they read the Bible cover to cover. Maybe they gave it a fair chance - reading it, studying it, trying to understand it, reviewing all the historical and archeological data that validates the reliability of the Bible ... and then they formed an educated opinion about it.
Yeah ... I'm sure that's what happened! 'Cuz who would make such a bold statement about a book they never read.
Anyway, many Christians are up-in-arms about this. But you know what?
I'm not.
In fact, I expect this kind of thing from the world. GQ didn't offend me by what they said. In fact, I don't think GQ needs to worry about offending us Christians at all.
No! What they need to be worried about is offending the Author of the Book they just denigrated.
Have fun defending your opinion - the guidance you gave millions of people which will lead many astray - when you stand before the Almighty God!
What reasonable, acceptable excuse will you give God to defend why you told people they don't have to read the Book He wrote which explains the way to eternal life through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ?
(If you can't think of one now, that's ok! You'll have an eternity to figure it out. But by then, of course, it'll be too late to do anything about it. Will it be worth it? I hope getting your fifteen minutes of fame was worth the price of your eternal soul!)
