Bon Jovi's Hallelujah

I've always loved Bon Jovi.  And I've always loved this song (even though I'm not quite sure what it all means).

But putting them together?

Wonderful

Just Testing Subscription Link

I just added a subscription link to this blog, top of the right side-bar, but I had no idea what I was doing.  I just kept clicking on things and following links until something happened.  So I am in the process right now of seeing if it works or not.  If it doesn't work, I will try to find a friend to help me fix it soon, if I can.

And if this does work, just know that even after writing and publishing posts, I go back sometimes to edit, correct, or update them.  So what I first publish may end up being more of a "rough draft."  I like to keep tinkering with what I write.

FYI:  I only added a subscription button to 3 of my blogs: My Crazy Faith, Anti-Calvinist Rant, and Heather's Garden and Home.  These are the only ones I continue to add posts to.

The Heather's Garden and Home blog contains posts on life issues in general, recipes, garden stuff, family stuff, pictures, and my social/political thoughts, etc.  But only a few posts on faith, and almost none of the anti-Calvinist stuff.  This blog is meant to be for everyone.  (I may be having trouble with this subscription button.  I "subscribed" to it, but haven't seen anything come in from it yet.  So it may take a little time to get it working.)

The My Crazy Faith one is full of posts on faith, emotional struggles, social/political thoughts, and anti-Calvinist stuff.  But it has none of the home/garden stuff.  This blog is meant for mature Christians who are looking for deep theological stuff and for encouragement during the "dark nights of the soul."

And The Anti-Calvinist Rant is only my anti-Calvinism posts, meant to help Christian understand what it is and why it's dangerous.

God Help Us All! (And Greta Thunberg Makes Me Giggle)

Read the following article:

I agree with him:  May God help us all!

And speaking of crimes against nature, does this girl want to make anyone else laugh?

I simply cannot take this speech seriously when it looks like seriously bad acting, totally scripted, rehearsed, and overblown.  “Insert angry face here … add a tremble to your voice here … spew venom here …”

"And the Oscar goes to ... Greta Thunberg for her dramatic performance in You Have Stolen My Dreams!"

(The scripted angst reminds me of AOC's speech about her Green New Deal.  Click here to see The Amazing Lucas comment on that performance.  I like this guy!  Oh, and here's a video I just found from someone who Greta makes laugh too.  And guess what?  It's The Amazing Lucas again.  My sons and husband watch him all the time.)

If You Are Rejecting God ... (And "What is Calvinism?")

If you find yourself rejecting God because of some of the terrible or confusing things others tell you about Him, and you don't want anything to do with Him because you don't think you can trust a God like that ... it might just be that they are telling you about the Calvinist God.  It might be that you are simply rejecting Calvi-god, because you sense that something's very wrong with him.

Well, I say that you're right.  Something is very wrong with him.  And he is not the God of the Bible!

Calvinists will say that Calvinism IS the Gospel, that they are one and the same.  (For more on what Calvinism teaches and why it's wrong, see some of the links to other people's Anti-Calvinist writing, farther down the list after the links to mine, in "Links to other Anti-Calvinism Posts".)

But do you want to know my brief answer to "What is Calvinism?"...

It's Satan disguised as Light.  It's a wolf in sheep's clothing.  It's cleverly-packaged lies, twisting Scripture so subtly that people aren't even aware they are being led astray.  It's so willingly accepted and easily spread because it makes people feel like they are being truly humble, like they are honoring God, if they accept that twisted theology without any questions or push-back.  It's using God's Word against God.

It is demonic!

And it does enormous damage to God's Truth, God's character, Jesus's sacrifice, and people's faith.  In fact, I think Calvinism bears some of the blame for the atheism that's out there today.  Because who wants to get close to a "god" like that!?!  Who can trust a "god" like that!?!

But before you reject God altogether, I suggest getting to know the God of the Bible first.  Yes, the God of the Bible can still be scary and a bit confusing.  But even when He's hard to understand and His ways are hard to accept sometimes, He makes sense.  And He can be trusted, if you get to know Him for who He really is.

Throw out Calvi-god, and read the Bible to see who God really is.  (And I would say start with the New Testament, so you can see what God in the flesh (Jesus) is like, before trying to understand the God of the Old Testament.)

Do not lose your chance for eternal life by letting someone convince you that Calvi-god is the God of the Bible.  "But I didn't like the God of Calvinism, and so I rejected You altogether" will not be an acceptable excuse when you stand before God and give an account for why you didn't believe in Him.  Throw out the Calvinism, and take the time to find out who God really is.  It's worth whatever time it takes.  Because your eternal soul depends on it!

So Chicken Sandwiches Hurt "Queer Kids" and Red Hats Are "Scary"!?!

So, there's this article out (an opinion piece in the Toronto Star) about how "eating at Chick-fil-A will increase the suffering of queer kids."

And I say, "What?"

First off, if chicken sandwiches have the power to hurt "queer" folk, then maybe those "queer" folks need to toughen up a bit.  Life is a lot more cruel than a chicken sandwich will ever be.

And secondly, if chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A have the power to hurt queer people, it's only because the LGBTQ-community made it that way.

Normalizing Pedophilia!?! Horrifying!

Very, very disturbing:  San Diego State University Normalizes Pedophilia.  According to this article, THIS is the kind of demonic lies they are teaching your kids.  That pedophilia is as acceptable as any other sexual orientation.  (Warning: The Joseph Paul Watson video at the end of the article contains cussing.  And it's VERY disturbing.  But it's worth watching because he speaks the truth.  And I have recently heard about something that he mentions too, that there's a new sexual fetish going around where people deliberately get pregnant repeatedly so that they can have multiple abortions.  For fun!  Please, Lord Jesus, just come back now!)

Parents, colleges are using your money to teach your kids that it's okay for adults to want to sleep with your younger, under-age children.

"Do you know what it's like to be alone?"

Yesterday at noon, I was driving to pick my son up from somewhere.  As I drove through an intersection in our neighborhood, I noticed a bicycle on a sidewalk and a man laying in the grass behind some bushes.  It looked like he was trying to sit up but couldn't.

That's odd, I thought.  Did he stop his bike ride to lay on the grass on a nice summer's day, staring up at the clouds?  A "stop and smell the roses" kind of thing?  Is he having a heart attack?

I couldn't get it out of my mind, and so I turned around.  I simply had to see what was going on, in case there was some sort of emergency.

First Justin Bieber, Then Kanye West, Next Up ... Shia Labeouf

I don't follow celebrity news or even really watch television.  (We don't have cable or anything like that; we still only get basic channels but we barely watch them.)  But if I hear of a celebrity who's struggling deeply, I don't just snicker or scoff.  I pray for them.

I know what it's like to hurt and struggle.  And I know that the only real answer is Jesus Christ.  And so when I hear of a hurting, lost celebrity, I pray that God puts His truth clearly in their paths, that He puts people in their lives to share the Gospel with them, that He opens their eyes to their need for Him, and that He surrounds them with His heavenly angels to keep evil away from them so that they can see His Truth, feel His love, and hear His call to draw near to Him, to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and find healing in Him.

Among others, I've prayed for Justin Bieber.  I've prayed for Kanye West.  (It's amazing to hear Kim talk about how Kanye has come to faith in Christ.  And it's amazing to hear her boldly say the name "Christ" and to use the word "Christian" without shrinking back.  Way to go, Kim!  And God bless you and Kanye both and continue to guide you in truth!  See this article.)

And now, I would ask fellow Christians to say a prayer for Shia Labeouf.  I don't know much about him and I don't know how he's doing currently, but I've always had the feeling that he is hurting deeply and that he's lost and struggling.  He needs the Lord.  Say a prayer for him, if you will.  It will only take a moment for you, but it might make an eternal difference for him.

[And I've prayed for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, too, among others.  It's so sad to me that both those couple broke up and that both of the men, from what I hear, have struggled with alcohol.  Seeing the hold that alcohol has had on my mother, I can imagine how in need of prayer they must be too.

When you hear of a celebrity who's struggling, don't scoff.  Pray.  They are human and hurt deeply, too.  The difference is they have to do it in the public's condemning eye, in front of those who like to mock and make a spectacle of the pain and struggles these celebrities are going through.  Shame on us.  Really.  Shame on us.]

Jarrid Wilson - Such a Tragedy!

Goodness, this hit me hard when I saw it.  My heart is broken right now for this man and his family:

Several years ago, during some depression of my own, I was a regular visitor to his blog.  I really liked where his heart was, and I found a lot of encouragement in his writing.  How tragic that he himself couldn't find the encouragement he needed!  It's so sad when those who help others, who pour their life out encouraging others, do not find the help and encouragement they need.

And I know this isn't the fault of anyone around him.  It's simply a tragic part of being human - brokenness, despair, relentless spiritual attack.  Any one of us, beaten down too much for too long, could understand how he got to the point he did.  We should all have compassion on him and his family, knowing that someday it could be us struggling that badly.

So let no one condemn him or criticize him for what happened.  Let no one condemn or criticize anyone else who struggles that way too.  For we do not know the pain and despair they are going through, how much they must be hurting to get to the point of wanting to end it all.  Let us just offer our love and comfort and support.  A shoulder to cry on and loving arms to wrap around them.

May he rest in peace in the Lord's presence.  And may God be with his wife and young children, bringing them comfort and support, as they carry on without him.

Such a tragedy!

(And this message from his wife - heartbreaking!)

[Of course, there is no quick, easy fix for the kind of despair that leads to suicidal thoughts, but if there's any help that can be found in this, I suggest checking out Help For Anxiety, Depression, and Suicidal Thoughts.  And 26 Tips for Dealing with Depression/Anxiety.  Sometimes, we need just a little bit to help us get through an especially hard moment.]

Truly Shameful - Protecting Sex Offenders Over Children!

Read this article by The Activist Mommy.  Go ahead; I'll wait.

So ... as taxpayers ... isn't it awesome to think that your local library would be unwilling to take the steps necessary to protect your children at public children's events from registered sex offenders, simply because it might offend some people in the LGBTQ-community!?!

And look at what that Thomas Witt said, shaming people for taking steps to protect kids, accusing them of having "offensive" ulterior motives, as if parents shouldn't be allowed to take steps to protect their children.
